Many dwarves live in the mountains of Dalnacree. Their customs are very different from those of humans or elves, but very widespread and accepted by dwarvenkind. The dwarves are known mainly for 3 things: smithing, ale-drinking, and beard-growing. Those dwarves that come from families with longstanding smithing traditions tend to find themselves employed either directly in the trade, or in the use of weapons and armor their clansmen as fighters, clerics, etc. The ale-drinkers and beard-growers inhabit a largely similar social sphere, spending most of their time either making or drinking ale, and regaling others with stories of times gone-by.
For obvious reasons, the smithing dwarves find themselves on the whole better off than their more indulgent cousins, and the smithing houses dominate the political arena. Many ale-drinkers and beard-growers left their homes in the late Second Era / early Third Era in search of opportunities in the world of men and elves, where the nature of their clan would not tarnish their employment. As such, it became common to find that the great taverns and alehouses in Aissür have a dwarf at their head. Nowadays, one can hardly find a tavern that is not run by a dwarf, which suits the other inhabitants of Aissür well, as dwarves a known all around as the best barkeeps and brewers.
